Cannister for All Payload Ejections (CAPE)

This technology provides the capability to deploy micro-satellites using a non-explosive actuator. The technology was developed on the DoD Human Spaceflight Program (DHSP) contract in Houston, Texas. Capabilities include simultaneous deployment of two 60 kg micro-satellites via an expendable internal cargo unit. MEI Technologies contributions to the product’s development included initial concept definition, requirements analysis, system design and analysis, testing, verification, flight safety certification, integration with the Space Shuttle, and operation of the deployment via the DoD Payload Operations Control Center at Mission Control at the NASA Johnson Space Center.
