Human Spaceflight Program
This contract provides systems engineering
and payload integration to the Air Force Space Command, Space
and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Space Development and Test
Wing. Tasks performed include providing complete payload integration,
safety certification, payload operations, and special studies
support to the USAF in support of all DoD payloads that fly
on the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station (ISS).
MEI Technologies has supported the DoD Space Test Program for fourteen
consecutive years, successfully flying more than 100 payloads,
experiments, and micro-satellites. Typical activities accomplished
leading up to each flight include: developing integration
schedules and performing general management functions for
each payload and mission; integrating designated payload elements
into the Shuttle and ISS; supporting hardware logistics of
payload elements and ground support equipment including flight
assignment and manifesting support; maintaining the DoD Payload
Operations Control Center; performing payload element testing,
engineering analyses; and payload requirement definition and
documentation. During the STS-116 mission this past December,
MEI Technologies successfully deployed five micro-satellites, two of which
were deployed in our patented Capability for All Payload Ejection
(CAPE) system.
