Orion Program

This contract provides systems engineering and development support to the NASA Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV). Tasks performed include requirements analysis; risk management; evaluation of aero-coefficients such as drag, lift and moments of inertia and shock interference effects during supersonic flight; base environments; and aerothermal heating during reentry and launch vehicle ascent; and wind tunnel data analysis and planning. MEI Technologies assists Lockheed Martin in defining thermal requirements for passive thermal control. To define these requirements, MEI Technologies develops thermal analytical models in support of integrated ORION thermal analyses. MEI Technologies provides GN&C requirements verification and conceptual level design for the ascent, abort and reentry phases, including assessment of aerodynamic impacts to system performance. MEI Technologies provides dynamic loads and environments analysis for the definition of design loads; vibration, shock and acoustic environments. In the Safety and Mission Assurance area, MEI Technologies also provides system safety, software safety, and risk management, including safety hazard analyses and failure mode effects analyses.
