Space Wire

Supported by a team of MEI Technologies Engineers, SpaceWire consists of the hardware and software being used by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's GOES-R program as a solution to the requirements for a high-speed data interface for on-board communications.

Developed under the NASA/ESES contract, the SpaceWire test card consists of a PCI-compliant card operating in a Windows Workstation environment. The SpaceWire test card's primary applications include spacecraft data system test and evaluation, as well as the testing of ground support equipment. It features on-board memory and makes all aspects of the ASIC available to the user.

The test card has been used to prove the concept and functionality of the GOES-R flight data system. Also, the card has been used to develop a Reliable Data Delivery Protocol (RDDP) and verify GOES-R protoflight instrument interfaces. This SpaceWire technology is easily adapted to any program needing moderate to high speed reliable packet communications.
